My son, Jared Davis, enjoyed various forms of shooting sports while in high school. Now he is starting an Airsoft club with his friend, Tyler Ferguson. Both are 19 years old and graduated from high school (Jared from our home school, Tyler from Porter Ridge) this past spring and going to local community colleges.
Airsoft play is somewhat similar to paintball, though less expensive in the long run - you can get started for around $150 and a day's play will run about $10. Airsoft guns shoot plastic pellets (will be using biodegradable) and are completely non-lethal as opposed to BB or 'real' guns. Eye protection in the form of googles or face masks is worn at ALL times. This Wikipedia page is informative:

See their Facebook page below to ask questions or join. You can also use this email to ask questions or get more information:

You will want to talk to Jared or Tyler before buying equipment as they can give you a lot of help on that.
At this time they are gathering interest. They do have a field where the play can take place that is not prohibitively expensive located between Indian Trail and Monroe. The main investment will be in the airsoft gun, safety mask or googles and whatever camo/outfit a participant wishes to use. Dads are welcome. Girls are welcome, too, although they don't currently have any that are interested. :-) Basically everyone is welcome who meets the age requirements.
I wish to emphasize that this is their club, I am merely passing along the information! Both Jared and Tyler are responsible young men who value good sportsmanship while having serious fun. The club is open to homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers alike and I think that they are currently planning the events on Saturdays.
Feel free to pass this along to anyone you think may be interested.
~Karen

Looking for people age 15 and up (14 and up with parental participation). Anyone interested please read the Basic Field rules on the NCAO website.
Field is small, and close to the ready area, no need for lugging around large amounts of water on the field. Tennis/running shoes are okay if they are sturdy, no converse style shoes.
We can hold a demonstration at our house if people are interested in seeing what airsoft guns look like, how they shoot, etc.
